Initially self-taught, Ian would go on to study guitar with John Dearman of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Dr. Molly Miller of Jason Mraz and the Black Eyed Peas, Dr. Thomas Echols of Austin Community College, Dr. Dragos Ilie of the Austin Guitar Quartet, and Adam Holzman at The Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin. Ian also began to study piano while at the University of Texas at Austin under Dr. Jeanne Hourez.

Ian is fluent in styles ranging from classical, jazz, rock, and everything in between. In addition to teaching, Ian is an active performer and composer serving the Austin community, writing original music for film scores and performing wedding ceremonies and private events.

Ian’s love of music is only matched by his love of teaching. Ian believes in a tailored approach to each student’s interests and needs. Whether you’re just looking to play your favorite songs or want to learn to read and write your own music, Ian is excited to help you along your musical journey.

When Ian isn’t writing, playing, or teaching music he enjoys hiking, camping, and just being out in nature.
